Description & Learning Objectives
Learn how to stage and identify pressure injuries accurately using NPIAP-aligned guidelines. This session covers how to distinguish tissue types, document wound characteristics, and ensure consistent, defensible staging across care settings. Participants will also learn to differentiate between pressure injuries and wounds related to moisture, devices, venous, and diabetes for more accurate assessment and treatment planning.
Upon completion of this program, the participant will be able to:
Identify stages of pressure injuries according to the National Pressure Injury Advisory Panel Staging 2016 guidelines.
Describe four tissue types associated with pressure injuries.
