Description & Objectives:

The skin, the body's largest organ, comprises multiple layers and cells, each serving a distinct purpose. Maintaining healthy, clean, and intact skin is vital for shielding underlying structures from external trauma and contaminants. Skin functions encompass protection, thermoregulation, metabolism, immunological response, and sensation.

Upon completion of this lesson, participants will be able to:

Identify 2 layers of skin and tissue and structures beneath the skin
Describe 5 functions of the skin.
Describe 2 signs and symptoms of periwound skin damage for light and dark skin tones.
