Description & Objectives:

Chronic wounds most often include venous and arterial ulcers, diabetic ulcers, pressure injuries, and non-healing surgical or traumatic wounds. Other wounds may arise from inflammation, infection, vascular disorders, drug use, genetic conditions, cancer, or external factors.

Although they may share similar features, these wounds often fail to respond to standard care, making them complex and difficult to heal. Accurate diagnosis is essential to guide appropriate interventions, whether the goal is to promote healing or provide palliative care.

Name 4 different categories of wound etiologies and provide one example of each.
List 3 observations that could indicate a wound has a diverse etiology
Describe 3 clinical features of necrotizing fasciitis.
