Wound–Lymphatic Integration Specialist

Swollen legs are misdiagnosed every day in wound care — and patients pay the price. Most providers label swelling as “venous” when it’s really lymphatic or mixed, and that mistake leads to unsafe compression, stalled healing, and documentation that won’t hold under the Lymphedema Treatment Act.

Why This Miro-Credential Exists

This course teaches you how to read a leg with confidence: what’s venous, what’s lymphatic, what’s mixed, and what to do next. No fluff. No vague wording. Just real clinical patterns you’ll see every day on your caseload.

You’ll learn the early signs everyone misses, how to spot lymph involvement before it progresses, how to make safe compression decisions, and how to document your findings in a way that protects both you and your patients.

If you want to level up your practice, improve outcomes, and become the clinician others rely on, this microcredential is your next step.

Wound-Lymphatic Program

Learning Objectives

  • Describe the distinguishing clinical characteristics of venous, lymphatic, and mixed-etiology lower-extremity swelling.

  • Identify early indicators of lymphatic dysfunction using visual patterns, pitting behavior, tissue feel, and functional symptoms.

  • Perform a structured lower-extremity swelling assessment, including segment comparison, girth trending, and evaluation of tissue quality.

  • Apply red-flag criteria and determine when referral to a Certified Lymphedema Therapist or another provider is indicated.

  • Document clinical findings in accordance with Lymphedema Treatment Act (LTA) requirements for medical necessity and coverage justification.

  • Evaluate patient response to compression using changes in swelling pattern, pitting score, tissue mobility, and functional tolerance.

  • Integrate venous and lymphatic assessment findings into wound care decision-making to improve healing outcomes and reduce complications.
